A Case Study on Maternal & Child Health
- In 27 villages with the objective of reducing death rates of infants and mothers
HPPPL CSR in Anuppur district of Madhya Pradesh has been working in the domain of Mother & Child Health (MCH) care in 27 villages with the objective of reducing death rates of infants and mothers. Ever since CSR has been working in this domain in the area, the infant and mother death rates have gone down to 90 % and 100% respectively..
The CSR team works with pregnant women and mothers closely with the help of network of Gram Mitra who pay door to door visit of houses with such cases and make beneficiaries aware of important information and knowledge and also link them to ASHA and Anganwadi workers if they are found non-compliant on any important practice. However during the Covid-19 pandemic last year and the current 2nd wave of the same, many lives has been affected. During these days Gram Mitra could not be able to pay visit to beneficiaries in person and were only able to keep in touch with them over phone.
One day during the Covid-19 Pandamic Ms. Manju Prajapati, Gram Mitra, while telephonic discussion with Ms. Bodhvati Gond, village Kotmi, found her with some Corona symptoms. The Gram Mitra advised her to get consulted with Doctor from nearest town Parasi. Doctor suggested her to take Covid test and was found positive. During the consultation with doctor she was also found one month pregnant and then she was very concerned about the fetus. However Doctor told her that the early diagnosis would benefit both of them from what might have been a serious medical case.
Ms. Bodhvati Gond thanked Ms. Manju Prajapati and the CSR team. She says, “Didi If you did not talk to me the other day I might have been in serious condition. My family and I are grateful to you and to your organization.”
CSR team worked with 3694 pregnant women by March 2022.
